Nokia: BT to test new network processor

(CercleFinance.com) - Finnish network equipment maker Nokia said on Thursday that British telecoms company BT will test its new FP5 processor, as part of the companies' long-term strategic relationship.


With this trial, BT is becoming the first UK operator to test high density 800G routing interfaces on IP routers, getting higher speed services and protection against escalating network security threats.

This fifth generation routing silicon also allows a 75% reduction in power consumption, which supports BT's target to run the most power efficient network in the UK.

BT already operates the largest IP network in the UK, powered by Nokia's routers.
