Nokia: selected by Citycom for deployment of 5G network

(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia said on Thursday that it has been selected by Austria's Citycom to supply a 5G network covering Graz, the country's second-biggest city, and its province.


Following this deployment, Citycom Graz will be able to offer industrial-grade private wireless networks for public services and local businesses, including IoT applications, the Finnish telecom gear maker said in a statement.

Citycom Graz plans to launch its commercial network in the first quarter of 2021, with initially 50 macro base stations in the first phase, before full deployment including over 200 sites.

Over time, Citycom Graz plans to invest more than 10 million euros in the project, Nokia said, without disclosing the terms of the deal.
