Nokia: Zain rolls out 5G network in Saudi Arabia

(CercleFinance.com) - Telecom operator Zain is rolling out its 5G network in Saudi Arabia using Nokia's technologies, the Finnish telecoms equipment maker said on Thursday.


Under a three-year deal involving thousands of 5G sites, Nokia will provide its radio access technology, as well as additional solutions from its portfolio, it said.

The ultra-high bandwidth and low-latency 5G network is intended to enable new applications and services for industrial automation, education, healthcare and entertainment, Nokia said.

The group said that it has also signed a two-year cooperation agreement with Kalmar, a division of terminal operator and cargo handler Cargotec, and private LTE network provider Ukkoverkot to build a wireless digitalization infrastructure for port and terminal.

Nokia said it will bring the digital automation platform for mobile machinery and industrial Internet of Things.
