Nokia: transmits 8K over 5G with French TV broadcaster

(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia and French state-backed TV broadcaster France Televisions have managed to transmit a program recorded in 8K ultra high definition (UHD) over a 5G wireless network, the companies said on Thursday.


The 5G network leveraged Nokia's radio access and data center with Velocix's content delivery network, enabling the delivery of high-volumes of video traffic for live or on-demand programs, they said.

Nokia and France Televisions plan to showcase the results at Amsterdam's media, entertainment and technology show, IBC 2018.

Nokia's Bell Labs forecast that, by 2025, video content will represent approximately 70% of all mobile traffic.
