IAG: shares rise after results, special dividend

(CercleFinance.com) - International Airlines Group shares inched up on Thursday after slightly better-than-expected results and the payment of a special dividend.


IAG's fourth-quarter operating profit rose to 655 million euros before extraordinary items, compared to 550 million euros in the same period of 2017.

Ford 2019, the airline group said that it expects its operating profit before extraordinary items to be in line with the 3.2 billion euros reported in 2018.

Investors mainly cheered the announcement of a special dividend of 35 cents per share, with the total payout representing approximately 700 million euros.

IAG shares are trading up 1.5%, outperforming the FTSE 100 index, which is down 0.8%. IAG had fallen almost 3% year-to-date until Wednesday's close, compared with a 5% rise in the FTSE 100 index.
