Siemens Gamesa: wins large turbine order in Sweden

(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens Gamesa on Monday said it has won its biggest order to date for its newest generation of turbines, with a new deal to provide 60 units for a wind farm in Sweden.


The project, owned by asset manager Prime Capital and independent power producer Enlight, will be one of the largest onshore wind projects to start construction in Europe this year, the industrial group said.

The deal brings the total order entry for the Siemens Gamesa 5.X - its new onshore platform - to 1 GW, only 18 months after its launch, the company said.

The turbines - which will operate with the largest rotor in the onshore segment - have been certified for a 30-year lifetime and will be covered by a 15-year service agreement.

The wind farm will be installed in 2022 in the village of Ange, in central Sweden.
