E.ON: first electricity from the Arkona wind project

ON and Equinor's Arkona offshore wind project in the German Baltic Sea has fed the first green electricity into the German electricity grid, E.ON said on Monday.

Bang on schedule, the Arkona project has reached the final construction phase now that the first of the 60 turbines is online, E.ON, which is responsible for construction and operation of the project, it said.

Further wind turbines will be commissioned step by step, the company added.

The Arkona project is located 35 kilometres northeast of the island of Rügen. The wind farm will have a capacity of 385 megawatts (MW) and can theoretically supply around 400,000 households with renewable energy.
