BASF: industrial scale CO2 capture with Linde

(CercleFinance.com) - BASF reports that a CO2 capture process that it has developed jointly with Linde and Heidelberg Materials will be used for the first time in a large-scale CO2 capture facility operated by Capture-to-Use (CAP2U) - a new joint venture created by Heidelberg Materials and Linde.

BASF says the process is based in part on its patented OASE technology - a process that reduces dust and aerosol emissions induced by the gas stream.

The plant will be the world's first industrial-scale carbon capture and utilization (CCU) facility.

Approximately 70,000 tonnes of CO2 per year will be captured, purified and liquefied. Linde will sell the majority of the resulting liquid CO2 as a feedstock for the chemical industry and in the food and beverage end-use markets.
