BASF: agreements for low CO2 marine gas

(CercleFinance.com) - BASF has announced a joint development agreement with China BlueChemical, a natural gas production specialist, and chemical engineering company Wuhuan Engineering, to promote the development and low-carbon use of marine gas resources.

Unlike commercial natural gas, marine gas contains high concentrations of CO2: this carbon dioxide must be removed to be used for large-scale downstream applications.

As such, BASF will leverage its extensive expertise in catalyst development and work with both companies to address these challenges.

Through their joint efforts, the companies aim to develop a commercially viable process for the utilisation of marine gas with a significantly lower CO2 footprint, BASF said.
