BASF: awards Emerson multi-million dollar plant upgrade deal

(CercleFinance.com) - Germany's BASF has awarded US engineering group Emerson a multi-million dollar contract to modernize automation software and controllers at its specialty chemical production facility in Lampertheim, Germany, which is both to increase production flexibility and enhance operations.


The world's largest chemical maker will implement Emerson's new hybrid automation solution, which replaces existing programmable logic controllers used to control 20 reactors.

BASF said that the deal is part of a five-year investment plan to boost capacity and operational excellence within its global plastics additives business.
