Volkswagen: resumes production at flagship Wolfsburg plant

(CercleFinance.com) - Volkswagen on Monday said that limited operations had resumed at its production plant in Wolfsburg, which temporarily closed in mid-March.


Production will start at 10% to 15% of its capacity, increasing to around 40% the following week, with Golf production starting on a one-shift basis, the brand said.

Production of the Tiguan and Touran models as well as the Seat Tarraco will then begin on Wednesday, it said.

Some 1,400 vehicles are expected to have been built by the end of the week, with production expected to be ramped up to over 6,000 vehicles next week, VW added.

The announcement means that about 8,000 employees returned to work this morning.
