Lufthansa: buys part of Air Berlin.

(CercleFinance.com) - It's comes as no surprise.
.. on Thursday Lufthansa announced its purchase of 61 aircraft from its compatriot Air Berlin for around 1 billion euros.

Having been dropped by Etihad, its main shareholder, Air Berlin nevertheless has a significant fleet. The "remainders" of the company will be used in part to strengthen the capacity of Eurowings, whose fleet will be increased by 41 Airbus from the A320 family, as well as 20 Dash 8 Q400.

These 61 additional planes bring the total number to 81 that Eurowings will have "inherited", considering the 20 that the company already operates in agreement with Air Berlin.
