Volkswagen: brand sales up 8.7% in 2022

(CercleFinance.com) - The Volkswagen group reports that its Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand delivered 4.
6 million vehicles worldwide in 2022, a figure down 6.8% on the previous year.

However, the brand's revenues increased 8.7% y-o-y to 74 billion euros. 2.6 billion (+22.5% compared to 2021), with operating profitability up 0.4 percentage points to 3.6%.

Against a backdrop of major geopolitical uncertainties, a sharp rise in raw material and energy prices, supply chain tensions and constraints due to the pandemic in China, the company's measures for cost-cutting and improvements in profitability have been effective and have enabled it to record a solid result in a difficult context, management said.

Volkswagen says that its order book currently stands at over 660,000 vehicles, in Europe alone, including almost 100,000 fully electric ID models.

For 2023, Volkswagen anticipates an operating margin, excluding exceptional impacts, of over 4%.
