Volkswagen: triparty agreement on electric vehicles

(CercleFinance.com) - Volkswagen has announced that it has signed an agreement between Elli (its subsidiary managing all activities related to recharging and energy for the Group in Europe), the Elia group and the start-up re.

The MoU underlines the signatories' shared vision to integrate electric cars into the electricity system.

Over the next few years, the partners plan to identify potential barriers to the integration of electric vehicles and will explore how to highlight its benefits, for example by developing demonstrators.

As such, drivers could charge their electric vehicles when there are large amounts of affordable renewable energy in the system and feed the electricity stored in their electric vehicles back into the grid when it is needed most.
