Thyssenkrupp: Commission clears acquisition of AST

(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission has cleared the acquisition of Acciai Speciali Terni (AST) of Italy, Thyssenkrupp Stainless of Germany and Thyssenkrupp Stainless Turkey of Turkey by Acciaieria Arvedi of Italy.


As part of the deal, Acciaieria Arvedi will also acquire three steel service centres located in Germany, Italy and Turkey.

AST, Thyssenkrupp Stainless and Thyssenkrupp Stainless Turkey manufacture, distribute and supply certain stainless steel products, such as standard and custom sized steel sheets and coils in all grades of stainless steel, welded pipes and tubes and rectangular profiles for several industries.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not give rise to any competition concerns as a sufficient number of other players would remain active in the relevant markets after the transaction.
