thyssenkrupp: names new CEO for European steel business

(CercleFinance.com) - German conglomerate thyssenkrupp announced on Wednesday the appointment of Bernhard Osburg as chairman of the executive board of its European steel business.


Osburg - who has been chief commercial officer of thyssenkrupp Steel Europe since 2019 - succeeds Premal Desai, who will step down at the end of the month due to "differing views" about the direction of the business.

Citing a "difficult economic environment," thyssenkrupp has recently launched a new strategic program for its steel division, which is mainly based on cost-reduction measures.
