Siemens: develops fully automated tramway
(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens has announced that its subsidiary Siemens Mobility and the German state-owned railway company Deutsche Bahn (DB) have developed the first fully automated tramway using digital technology in Hamburg, Germany.
However, its driver must remain on board to supervise the passengers' journey.
The project partners, DB, Siemens Mobility and the city of Hamburg, have jointly invested a total of 60 million euros in automated tram, which is part of DB's "Digital Rail Germany" project.
