Mercedes-Benz: electric charging network project

(CercleFinance.com) - Last night Mercedes-Benz announced at CES in Las Vegas that it plans to launch its own fast-charging network for vehicles, starting in North America.

The German premium carmaker said that it expects to roll out its first self-branded charging stations this year.

Mercedes therefore plans to work with MN8 Energy, a renewable energy producer, and ChargePoint, an electric vehicle charging network.

By the time the project is completed in 2027, Mercedes-Benz expects to have more than 400 hubs with over 2,500 chargers in all.

The automotive group plans to install its infrastructures along motorways, but also at major road intersections and in the heart of large cities.

Mercedes shares have gone a bit flat today though, down over 0.5%, underperforming the German market by 1%.
