Daimler: launches 1 billion euro mobility venture with BMW
(CercleFinance.com) - BMW Group and Daimler have officially joined forces to launch a new project, aiming to invest over 1 billion euros in mobility services, such as car-sharing, ride-hailing, charging and multi-modal transport.
The cooperation includes five joint ventures in multi-modal services, charging, taxi ride-hailing, parking and car-sharing, they said.
Over the longer term, both German car makers plan to merge the five services more closely to form a single business with an all-electric, self-driving fleet of vehicles that both charge and park autonomously.
Both companies' mobility services already have a combined total of over 60 million active customers to date, they said.
