Linde: Praxair merger proving more complicated

(CercleFinance.com) - Linde has announced that in discussions with certain competition authorities, the latter have said that their approval of the group's merger with its US peer Praxair could be subject to more stringent terms than previously expected.


Both the industrial gas groups are analysing these requirements to assess their extent and see how they can meet so that they can complete their merger, with constructive talks also ongoing with regulators.

Based on the ongoing discussions with the US FTC and other antitrust authorities, the German group sees a greater likelihood than the level of divestment commitments that has already been accepted by the parties is now out of date.
