Fresenius Medical Care: to acquire NxStage Medical.

(CercleFinance.com) - Kidney dialysis specialist Fresenius Medical Care will acquire Boston-based medical technology and services company NxStage Medical, in a 1.
7 billion euro (2 billion dollars) deal, the German company said on Monday.

Fresenius has said that the acquisition will enable the group to become the global leader in home dialysis and to help accelerate growth and innovation in the field.

"This is certainly a very targeted acquisition in Fresenius Medical Care's core business which makes sense from a strategic point of view," analysts at Bryan Garnier commented.

"The price paid was the share price three months ago," the broker added.

For the record, Fresenius Medical Care North America has agreed to acquire all outstanding shares of NxStage Medical for 30 dollars per share in cash.

Bryan Garnier still thinks that the deal's accretive impact - which will not occur until year 3 - could be seen as disappointing considering that the broker was expecting Fresenius to report mid-to-high single-digit growth next year.

The Frankfurt-listed shares are down 0.6 percent at 78.5 euros after the news.
