Fraport: Frankfurt airport traffic falls to historic lows

(CercleFinance.com) - Fraport said on Monday that passenger traffic at its Frankfurt airport sank by 73% in 2020 due the Covid-19 pandemic.


In a statement, the German airport operator said that traffic almost came to a complete standstill between April and June, before picking up slightly in the third quarter.

However, another wave of coronavirus infections led to more travel restrictions and passenger traffic slumped by 82% in December, it said.

Fraport said it expects Frankfurt's passenger traffic to rebound - particularly in the second half of 2021.

Despite this, traffic is expected to reach only 35% to 45% of its level in 2019, it warned.

The shares were down over 2% after the announcement.
