Deutsche Telekom: share up after 'record' year in 2020

(CercleFinance.com) - On Friday German telecommunications group Deutsche Telekom reported a "record" financial year in 2020, which saw it exceed the 100 billion euro threshold in annual revenues for the first time in its history.

This morning Europe's largest telecoms operator reported a 25% increase in revenues to 101 billion euros over the past financial year, boosted by the acquisition of the American Sprint and exceeding the consensus of 100.5 billion euros, as provided by the group.

In organic terms - i.e. excluding the effects of exchange rates and changes in consolidation scope - revenue increased by 3%.

Adjusted EBITDA jumped 41.6% to 35 billion euros last year, while net profit increased 15.5% to 5.7 billion euros, above the consensus forecast of 5.2 billion euros.

For 2021, the telephone operator says it is aiming for adjusted Ebitda of around 37 billion euros, a target that is again above the consensus of 36.5 billion euros.

The share is currently up 1% on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange after these results were announced.
