Deutsche Telekom: had considered merger with Orange

(CercleFinance.com) - In yesterday's edition of Le Monde revealed the existence of discussions, which are now over, between Orange, the French incumbent telecom operator, and its German counterpart Deutsche Telekom.
These talks took place between May and September 2017.

The Orange share rose by 2.2% yesterday, with the stock not falling back on the Paris Stock Exchange this morning, while the title Deutsche Telekom share has followed similar trends in Frankfurt. These two groups have respective market capitalisations of around 40 billion and 70 billion euros.

Referring to a project of "merger of equals," Le Monde writes... However, Deutsche Telekom, which is also present in the United States, is twice as big as the former France Telecom, and the operation would have resulted in a pure and simple absorption of Orange. This explains why discussions have been halted.
