BMW: maintains electric offensive, launching new models

(CercleFinance.com) - BMW Group is pursuing its electrification offensive with the launch of four more models, the German luxury-car maker said on Wednesday.


The Munich-based auto giant said that it is launching new entry-level plug-in hybrid models of the BMW 3 Series and the BMW 5 sedans, with both series to be supplemented by two further models - each with electrified drive - as from March.

In all, BMW plans to offer 15 models and one Mini model with plug-in hybrid drive from March, it added.

The company said the current expansion of the range represents the "next logical step" on the way to a model range that is expected to include 25 electrified vehicles by 2023.
