BMW: to build new Mini crossover at Leipzig plant

(CercleFinance.com) - BMW said that it plans to build the new Mini crossover, the successor to the current Mini Countryman, at its Leipzig plant in 2023.


The new model, which offers drivers a choice of combustion or electric drive, will come with a front- or all-wheel drive, petrol or diesel engines, or an all-electric drive.

The Leipzig factory will hence become BMW's first German site to produce both BMW and MINI vehicles

Since 2013, it has manufactured over 200,000 all-electric BMW i3 and BMW i3s.

An additional investment of over 100 million euros is now adding an assembly facility for e-drive components.
