BMW: second battery module line in Leipzig

(CercleFinance.com) - On Monday BMW announced the commissioning of a second production line dedicated to the manufacture of battery modules at its plant in Leipzig, Germany.


The new unit will be used to produce electronic components for the BMW i4, its new 100% electric sports sedan assembled in Munich, which is currently enjoying "enormous demand", the carmaker said.

The project - which represents an investment of 70 million euros - should lead to the creation of 250 jobs by the end of 2022, in addition to the 700 positions already associated with the first module production line, which was launched in May 2021.

This new unit will cover an area of 4,250 m2.
