BMW: US group sales down 1.7 percent in October

(CercleFinance.com) - BMW saw its group sales decline 1.
7% in the US in October, with the German premium carmaker saying the US is becoming a "tougher" market.

Sales of BMW and MINI brands combined decreased to 26,428 vehicles last month, from 26,877 vehicles in the same month a year ago, the company said late on Thursday.

While MINI sales decreased by 13.7%, sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 0.2% in October, thanks to the strenght of its SUV line, increasing for a twelfth consecutive month.

"There's no question the U.S. is becoming a tougher sales market, so for BMW to mark 12 straight months of sales gains in the U.S. is a solid accomplishment," said Bernhard Kuhnt, CEO of BMW North America.

Year-to-date, i.e. for the first ten months of 2018, BMW Group sales in the US are still up 1.4%.
