BMW Group: new sales record in April; volumes up 7.4%.

(CercleFinance.com) - BMW Group's sales increased by 7.
4% to 192,494 vehicles last month, a new all-time high for a month of April, the company said on Friday.

BMW brand sales rose 9.4% percent to 164,641 vehicles in April, while those of Mini fell 3% to 27,588 cars.

"Customer demand is high across the range with a number of stand-out models, including the X1, the 5 Series and the 7 Series," said Ian Robertson, member of the board of management in charge of sales and brand.

Group sales rose 5.8% in the first four months of the year, to 779,736 vehicles, also setting a new record.

Results were lifted by stronger demand in Europe and Asia, despite headwinds in some European markets, BMW said.

The German carmaker said April saw an unusually sharp increase in sales in Mainland China, due to full availability of the BMW X1, which was in run-out in April.

BMW shares were down 3.3% on the DAX index after these figures were released.
