Nestlé: Nespresso launches first recycled capsules

(CercleFinance.com) - Nespresso, Nestlé's popular at-home coffee brand, is launching new capsules using 80% recycled aluminium, in a move highlighting the Swiss company's efforts in terms of "circularity.
"

The first ever recycled capsules will first concern just one product category, but Nespresso said it aims to have two full ranges of coffee capsules made using recycled aluminium by the end of 2021.

The launch of these capsules follows the introduction of new fully recyclable boxes for Nespresso machines, made from 95% recycled material, earlier this year.

Due to the composition of the aluminium alloy required to produce Nespresso capsules, 80% is the current maximum amount of recycled content that can be used today, Nestlé said.

In March, the food giant said it aimed at making 100% of its packaging recyclable or reusable, thereby cutting the use of virgin plastic by one third by 2025.
