Dufry: organic growth accelerated in second-quarter.

(CercleFinance.com) - Swiss travel retailer Dufry said on Monday that organic sales growth accelerated in the second quarter, reaching 8.
9%, against 7.2% in the first quarter.

The Basel-based group said that this performance is the highest since 2012, with most of its markets performing well and business being "particularly strong" in the United Kingdom.

Overall, operating profit (EBIT) almost tripled to 90 million Swiss francs in the first half of 2017, versus 31.7 million Swiss francs in the same period of 2016.

"2017 has to date been a successful year also in terms of business development," CEO Julian Diaz commented.

Dufry said it also expects to see good market conditions in the second half of the year.

Finally, the group said that it is considering the flotation of its North American business to capitalize on trends specific to the North American travel retail market.
