ABB: strategic collaboration with Sweden's Boliden

(CercleFinance.com) - ABB has announced a strategic collaboration with Boliden, a Swedish mining and smelting company, to establish a cooperation to use low-carbon copper in its electromagnetic stirring equipment (EMS) and high-efficiency electric motors.


Rhiq aims to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, while supporting the transition to a more circular economy, ABB said.

In addition to the use of recycled copper, ABB is committed to increasing the use of recycled electrical steel (e-steel) and recycled aluminium.

As part of ABB's sustainability strategy 2030, the company aims for 80% of its products and solutions to be covered by a circular approach. The collaboration with Boliden is an important step towards achieving this, management said.
