ABB: wins grid contract in Germany

(CercleFinance.com) - ABB has won a 30 million dollar contract to supply phase-shifting transformers (PSTs) that will optimise power flow in the German electricity network, the Swiss company said on Thursday.


These high-performance transformers wil help to better integrate offshore wind power into the electricity grid, as the power generated by windfarms is unpredictable.

ABB said that it won the deal from Amprion, a transmission grid operator that provides electricity to over 29 million people, from the Alps in Southern Germany to Lower Saxony.
