Holcim: buys Quebec quarries from Mathers Group
(CercleFinance.com) - Holcim, the world's largest cement maker, is buying the quarry and asphalt businesses from Canadian diversified firm Mathers Group to expand its footprint in the dynamic Quebec market, the Swiss company said on Friday.
As part of the deal, all of the Mathers Group's quarry and asphalt assets, including Carrière St-Eustache and Pavage St-Eustache, along with its 80 employees, will become part of Holcim.
The building materials group said it is already the largest crushed stone producer in Quebec, where infrastructure investment is projected to drive high growth across the Eastern Canada region.
The deal also marks Holcim's biggest aggregates acquisition in the region in over a decade.
It is intended to expand the company's offering of recycled concrete and asphalt, advancing its circular construction strategic goal to recycle 100 million tons of materials by 2030.
