Nokia: launches a rail maintenance solution

(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia today announced the launch of a solution developed jointly with the engineering consulting group Altran, to optimise and streamline the maintenance of rolling stock for railway operators.


This solution combines Nokia's strengths in the Internet of Things (IoT), networks and analytics, with Altran's strengths in application development, analytics and systems integration for rail operations.

Maintenance represents the single largest operational cost for rail operators, accounting for about half of all their operational expenses, said the Finnish telecom equipment supplier.
