Barry Callebaut: extends sustainable project in Madagascar

(CercleFinance.com) - Swiss chocolate maker Barry Callebaut announced on Friday that it had decided to extend the partnership struck in 2016 in Madagascar with the vanilla extract and flavour manufacturer Prova after results were deemed satisfactory.


The Swiss group believes that the agreement has been successful as it now guarantees 100% of its supply of sustainably produced vanilla for Europe.

Despite weather conditions that can at times be difficult, the effects of the pandemic and the volatility of agricultural prices, the collaboration has exceeded all expectations and will now enter its second phase of development, says Barry.

For the record, Barry Callebaut has set itself the goal of using only sustainably sourced ingredients in its products by 2025.
