Barry Callebaut: expands in Russia with Inforum acquisition

(CercleFinance.com) - Swiss chocolate maker Barry Callebaut is buying Inforum, a Russian B2B producer of chocolate, to expand its presence on the world's second largest chocolate confectionery market.


Founded in 1989, Inforum started its business selling cocoa products and now also makes coatings and fillings.

In 2017, the group's sales reached 77 million euros, with the group having over 300 employees.

Barry Callebaut, which has a chocolate manufacturing plant near Moscow, said the "strategic" deal is expected to strengthen its presence and production capacity in the high-growth Russian market, and to further increase its market penetration in CIS countries.

The transaction is set to be completed by the end of the calendar year.

Its financial terms were not disclosed.
