Bombardier: huge rail contract in Egypt

(CercleFinance.com) - A consortium led by the Canadian group Bombardier has won a contract worth over 4.
5 billion dollars from the Egyptian authorities to equip and commission two new monorail lines.

In addition to supplying 70 trains with 280 seats each, Bombardier will also provide signaling, communications and power systems for both rail lines.

The lines will respetively be 54 kilometres and 42 kilometres long.

Bombardier's share - which will also be responsible for maintenance - is estimated at about 2.8 billion dollars, while that of its partner, the Egyptian giant Orascom, is expected to be around 900 million dollars.
