AB InBev: fined for restricting cross-border sales

(CercleFinance.com) - Beer giant AB InBev has been hit with a 200 million euro fine on Monday for restricting cross-border sales of its Jupiler beer.


The European Commission said AB InBev restricted the possibility of buying Jupiler beer in the Netherlands, where the brand was sold to retailers and wholesalers at lower prices, and to import it into Belgium.

The EU said the practices occurred between 2009 and 2016.

As AB InBev has proved to be cooperative in the investigation, the Commission has granted the brewer a 15% reduction in the fine in return.
