Ageas: sharp rise in H1 earnings

(CercleFinance.com) - Ageas has reported H1 2018 earnings that are up 55% at 441 million euros, with net insurance income that is up 7% at 475 million euros and a net loss from the general account which has fallen to 34 million euros against 161 million euros a year ago.


The strong operating performance in non-life in all businesses and a very good result in life enabled us to post a good net result from insurance, said group CEO, Bart De Smet.

In particular, the group reported a commercial recovery in Asia, a return to growth in cash inflows for life insurance and an outperformance of the non-life market in Belgium, as well as a sound recovery in the UK.
