Alstom: partnership with SSAB for clean steel

(CercleFinance.com) - Alstom and SSAB announce that they have entered into a partnership to supply steel manufactured with near-zero carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, a steel produced from recycled steel and electricity from non-fossil sources and biogas.


The first delivery of SSAB Zero will take place as early as this year, and will be used in the manufacture of Alstom's first Traxx Shunter locomotives, a new platform designed for shunting and track work operations.

SSAB will contribute to the realization of Alstom's sustainable procurement strategy, which aims to reduce the carbon emissions of purchased goods and services by 30% by 2030, Alstom says.
