Walmart: raises full-year sales and earnings forecasts

(CercleFinance.com) -Walmart reported an increase in third-quarter revenue and sales at US stores that have been open for at least a year, with the world's largest retailer raising its full-year forecasts.

The retailer on Thursday said that total revenue in the 13 weeks to 26 October rose by 1.4% to 124.9 billion dollars. Same-stores sales, a key gauge of retail health, rose 3.4% at the company's US stores.

Third-quarter operating income rose by 5% to 5 billion dollars.

Walmart raised its expectations for US comp sales, excluding fuel, for the full-year ending January 2019.

The company now expects full-year comparable sales growth, excluding fuel, of at least 3%, from a previous guidance of "about 3%".

In addition, Walmart now expects adjusted EPS for its fiscal year of between 4.75 dollars and 4.85 dollars, up from a previous forecast range of 4.65 dollars to 4.80 dollars.

Wallmart shares were up 0.4% in pre-market trading today.
