Verizon: first private 5G deal with British ports
(CercleFinance.com) - US telecom conglomerate Verizon has announced signing an agreement with port operator ABP (Associated British Ports) to deploy a private 5G network in the Port of Southampton.
Delivered in partnership with Nokia, this private 5G solution will provide the port, one of the busiest in the UK, with a secure, low latency private connection in selected areas of the East and West Docks.
The deployment will consolidate data communications onto a single network, which will reduce complexity and help to improve the reliability and security of communications, Verizon said.
