Tesla: shares soar after record deliveries in fourth quarter

(CercleFinance.com) - Electric-car maker Tesla said it achieved record production and record deliveries in the fourth quarter, sending its shares up almost 4 percent in early trading on Friday.

Tesla said it achieved production of almost 105,000 vehicles in the past quarter, including 86,958 Model 3 units, with deliveries of approximately 112,000 vehicles.

For 2019 as a whole, Tesla delivered approximately 367,500 vehicles, up 50 percent compared to the previous year and in line with full year guidance.

Analysts expect Tesla to exceed half a million deliveries in 2020.

In its stament, Tesla said it continues to focus on expanding production in both the US as well as its newly launched facility in Shanghai, which has begun deliveries after breaking ground less than one year ago.

Tesla shares rose by 3.8 percent to 446.7 dollars in early Nasdaq trading.
