Qualcomm: EU fines 242 million euros over predatory pricing
(CercleFinance.com) - Qualcomm was fined 242 million euros by the European Commission on Thursday for "predatory pricing" on the market of 3G baseband chipsets.
"Qualcomm sold these products at a price below cost to key customers with the intention of eliminating a competitor", said Commissioner Margrethe Vestager.
Vestager said Qualcomm's strategic behaviour prevented competition and innovation for these key components, which allow mobile devices to connect to the Internet.
