P&G: to simplify its structure with six business units

(CercleFinance.com) - Procter & Gamble announced late on Thursday several organisational changes, effective as from next summer, which are intended to simplify its management structure and further increase focus on growth markets.

Beginning July 2019, the US consumer goods giant will operate though six industry-based sector business units for the largest geographic markets, led by unit CEOs who will be responsible for sales and profit.

The structure will apply to the group's largest markets - US, Canada, China, Japan, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Russia and smaller adjacent countries - representing about 80% of sales and 90% of profit.

The company also plans to cut the level of corporate resources, with about 60% of corporate work shifting to the business units and markets.

P&G said that this is the biggest organisational change that the group has made in the past 20 years.
