Pfizer: Macau and HK suspend Covid vaccination
(CercleFinance.com) - The governments of Hong Kong and Macau have announced that they are suspending their Covid-19 vaccination campaign with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.
The Macau health authority stated that the vaccine, produced in China, had defective packaging related to the closure of the vial.
In Hong Kong, the government also said it had found discrepancies in the seal of the vial on the same batch of vaccines as in Macau, i.e. batch 210102.
Although there is no reason to believe that there is a risk to the safety of the product, as a precautionary measure, the vaccination of the batch concerned is suspended pending an investigation, the authorities of both countries announced, while an investigation has been launched.
Meanwhile, the Hong Kong government added that batch 210104 would also be "put on hold" as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of the vaccine.
