Microsoft: buys into Dutch offshore wind energy
(CercleFinance.com) - Microsoft said it will buy offshore wind energy from Dutch wind farm developer Eneco to provide its datacenters with green power.
The US tech giant plans to purchase 90 MW from the 731.5 MW offshore wind project Borssele III/IV, providing its datacenters with power for 15 years starting in 2022, it said.
This is Microsoft's second purchase of wind energy in the Netherlands in the space of a year, bringing its total wind energy purchases to 270 MW in the Netherlands.
This is one of the largest corporate renewable energy portfolios in the country.
