Lockheed Martin: develops special 5G network with Omni
(CercleFinance.com) - Lockheed Martin announces that it has entered into a strategic interest agreement with Omnispace to explore opportunities for joint development of 5G capabilities from space.
The non-terrestrial network (NTN) that is based on global 5G standards could provide global communications solutions regardless of the environment or user location.
Omnispace therefore envisiges a global network that draws on both a constellation of satellites in non-geostationary orbit and the capabilities of leading mobile operator wireless networks.
Developed in collaboration with Lockheed Martin, this hybrid 5G network would provide the coverage and capacity to support mission-critical applications that require smooth and reliable global communications, Lockheed Martin says.
