Eli Lilly: starts phase III trial against Covid
(CercleFinance.com) - Eli Lilly announced on Thursday that a first patient has been enrolled in a Phase III clinical trial program to evaluate the efficacy and safety of baricitinib for hospitalised patients with Covid-19.
The US laboratory says it intends to recruit 400 patients for the study, with results expected in the next few months.
Lilly says that the tests conducted in the US, Europe and South America will involve patients with a high degree of inflammation, although who are not on ventilators.
Baricitinib is already approved in 70 countries for the treatment of moderate to severe forms of rheumatoid arthritis.
